"Select Interpreter" in status bar constant flickering

Testing #19550

• As part of case 1, I selected Enter interpreter path...
• I now have a Select Interpreter entry in my status bar that won't stop flickering (it's flickering much faster on my machine than is captured by the gif)

If I click the Select Interpeter, it results in the repeated and flickering command prompt from here: #19574.
