Update example app to update to angular 7

There were a number of issues caused by different versions of things being present in the workspace root versus inner packages. Updated them to try to keep in sync.

• Also copied over the jest config to the example app folder to allow that to run in a standalone folder. To test its functionality it needs to be copied outside of the parent workspace folder
• fixed some small type issues
