Reconsideration: allow color-gamut to advance to Baseline high #3227

@ddbeck

Description

@ddbeck

In #3218, I'm putting an editorial hold on the color-gamut media query (dist).

Background

Firefox is reported to BCD to not support the media query. Additionally, one color space is reported to not work on any browser. These are not reflected in the BCD data. I have not personally verified the report.

Options

  • Advance. Undo the editorial override and ignore this bug.
  • Regress. Incorporate this bug upstream in BCD, setting the feature as partially supported. Then undo the editorial override and allow the regression to happen.
  • Leave override in place. Silently ignore BCD. Note that this does not override per-key statuses. We should choose this option if we cannot come to an agreement about other solutions.

My very tentative recommendation is to regress, assuming the report about p3 is true. I don't care about the color space that no browser implements (there's no compat issue there and the lack other bugs on BCD about this suggests that the p3/srgb distinction is more important to developers).
