This PR adds a new TIP (795) introducing rules for username registration on TRON:

  • Premium usernames (≤8 characters) with transfer, maintenance fee, secondary market
  • Regular usernames (≥9 characters) free to register, no maintenance fee
  • Only English letters and digits allowed, case-insensitive
  • Name change permitted once per year
  • Governance by TRON DAO
  • Backward compatibility with existing addresses

Supersedes TIP-794.

Initial draft of TIP-795 introducing username registration rules with character, length, and fee structure.

Hello @Federico2014 @winni1115 👋

Could you please take a look at PR #795 (TIP-795: Username Registration Rules)?

Summary:

  • Native username system for TRON accounts
  • ≤8 chars: premium, transferable, with fee (managed by TRON DAO)
  • ≥9 chars: free, open to everyone, no maintenance cost
  • Case-insensitive, ASCII letters + digits only

We believe this can improve user safety (prevent copy/paste mistakes) and adoption.
Your review or guidance on next steps would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Thanks for your time!

@alichatme Thanks for your contribution! I think this is a great idea. But to allow the community to fully discuss and reach a consensus on this idea, would you please first open an issue in the tips repository (similar to [[#782]) for community review and discussion? Only improvement proposals that have been fully discussed and accepted by the community should be submitted as a PR.
