ArgoCD operator out of the box requires some modifications to allow applications to properly sync.
Following this issues thread on ArgoCD applications not being able to apply/sync manifests, tested this workaround myself and updated workshop ReadMe accordingly on Openshift cluster with ArgoCD deployment.
argoproj/argo-cd#5886
