Indeed as of today (July 17 2025), multiplex now seems to be broken... I am getting the following error on the simplest of docs (see below):

ERROR: Error attempting to provision multiplex token from 'https://reveal-multiplex.glitch.me/': Unexpected token '<', "<!DOCTYPE "... is not valid JSON

As there is no more generic hosted solution anymore, right now the best way to get multiplex running is for anyone needing it to use a service like render.com or railway.app and host the github.com/reveal/multiplex service there.

We'll update here when we have something available for Quarto if we managed to find a solution to provide for the community

In fact, the maintainer did followed on the railway.app idea and there is a new service running at https://multiplex.up.railway.app/ with a hobby plan covered by the revealjs project. Thanks to them, we can bring back the feature in Quarto.
