effbot.org is down, it's currently displaying:
But docs.python.org have a few links pointing to it, I think they should be manually reviewed one by one, checking on web archive 1 if they still contain relevant information. For example:
The given links give Python 2 examples, so I think it's OK just to remove it. |
@mark, would it be at all possible for you to host the tkinter part content from Effbot on your site (as you did with the Shipman docs for bpo-37149)? The docs have been down since mid-November and there is no indication of when they'll come back up. Since tkinter does not have very good docs on docs.python.org, this is (still) a very valuable resource. |
Julien, we could remove them from docs.python.org instead of pointing to archive.org. Users will be able to find more recent examples in the internet. |
I'd argue for removing the links altogether, given the material is very outdated and from what I recall anything that was there is better covered now by TkDocs, Shipman, or other resources. |
Reopening this issue as there's still 4 links to effbot.org in old whatsnew entries, they should point to web.archive.org. |
