Sidebar content is rendered as a Navbar ?

using this theme in jupyter book.

For some reason the left TOC Sidebar is empty and the content is rendered as top NavBar !!

how to fix that ?

@vsraptor can you please provide a link to a page where you are experiencing this problem? It's hard to debug without images, descriptions of how to reproduce the error, etc

it is local on my machine still..here is it:

I just added this :

_config.yml

sphinx:
  config:
    html_theme: pydata_sphinx_theme

and then :

jupyter-book build book

Couldnt find any cfg option about the placement of the TOC. Here is part of it:

format: jb-book

parts:
  - caption: Intro
    chapters:
    - file: markdown
    - file: notebooks

  - caption: MISC
    chapters:

ahh I see - the reason for this is because of the theme you're using. The PyData theme puts all top level pages in the top navbar, and all chapters within top-level pages inside the sidebar to the left. So if you want chapters to the left, they should be listed underneath a top-level chapter, so for example:

format: jb-book
root: intro

parts:
  - caption: Intro
    chapters:
    - file: markdown
    - file: notebooks

  - caption: MISC
    chapters:
    - file: docs/multi-regex/multi-regex
      sections:  # These will be in the left sidebar
      - file: docs/threensition/threensition

I'll close this one since this is expected behavior in Jupyter Book, and because the pydata theme is more of an "advanced use case". But if there's a different issue that you've got feel free to open a new one!
