Self signed JWT Validation

Section 7.3 - does the validation of a self signed JWT require any signature validation or is it treated as a unsigned object by the authorization server?

If there is a signature on the self-signed JWT, I believe it should be verified. The terminology is not specific on this, so will add language to that effect.
