Feature request: Output to Telegraf

I'm currently using https://github.com/agileharbor/telegraf-client to send metrics to Telegraf from .NET and while it works fine, it's unmaintained and obviously not officially supported. It would seem to me that adding Telegraf as a new output target to this package should be rather trivial. The only change to the public API would be the possibility to do .WriteTo.Telegraf("udp://localhost:8084").

Thanks for the suggestion! I can't speak for @influxdata on this, but the original goal of this project was to remain a minimal, low-footprint InfluxDB client - adding additional protocols isn't really accounted for. Perhaps a sibling project might cover Telegraf at some point, if someone's interested in giving it a shot?

If it helps, Telegraf accepts InfluxDB line protocol over HTTP using the http_listener plugin:

@sidhoda I guess that is an option if I really wanted to use this client, but I'd rather go with UDP and Telegraf's socket listener.

@nblumhardt Thank you for the response. While I see where you're coming from, wouldn't it suffice to pretty much just add a UDP version of LineProtocolClient?

On the surface, yes - but the implementation/maintenance/testing effort isn't really accounted for. Would you be interested in forking this repo and publishing a first-cut? It'd be great to dig deeper into what's involved, and even if we don't end up merging it to this package, it seems like it'd help move things forwards. Cheers!
