[Enhancement] New Worker Type R and G.12X and G.16

Description

Hi,

There is a new type of worker types that are type "R" which possess more memory then the G worker type. Which there is a need for some jobs that are spark intensive.

It seems that the new available worker types are:

• R1.X
• R2.X
• R4.X
• R8.X

It was also added for the G.12X and G.16X

I don't know if it is available yet in the AWS SDK but it is in the aws cli.

thank you for taking time to raise the issue.

I had a look into the provider source code and it looks like we need an upstream change in the AWS SDK Go v2 to support this. In the provider there exists a validation that compares the user input to the worker types defined in the AWS SDK:

In the SDK there is no support for the new worker types yet. The currently supported types are these

The AWS SDK v2 team has added this feature to the changelog. Let's wait for its integration with the AWS provider — hopefully it's coming soon.

sounds good - I have seen the changelog entry, but did not find anything in the SDK code. Were you able to spot the required change?
