Epic: Alternative IDE's in onboarding (JetBrains, VS Code Desktop and Vim/SSH) #7570

@loujaybee

Description

@loujaybee
Context Currently, the only way to set up a desktop IDE is to set your IDE preferences in Gitpod, and then restart a workspace. As observed throughout usability, it is not obvious to many users that desktop IDE support exists in Gitpod. This epic is to facilitate different UX journeys for users when opening Desktop IDE's beyond updating preferences and restarting a workspace.
Owner Product - @loujaybee \ Tech - @akosyakov \ Design - @gtsiolis
Value Users are more likely to discover desktop IDE's, and have a more pleasant experience with Gitpod.

Out of scope N/A
