This PR adds a
.golangci-lintconfiguration file that enables and fine-tunes several linters in order to improve code quality.The meta-linter failures have been addressed in separate commits, one per linter. Some failures have been suppressed with the
nolintdirective to avoid larger refactorings.This PR should not change functionality, but please review with care.
