asmaven downloads too many artifacts for Eclipse Java EE package

Is there any way to use asmaven to get the Eclipse Java EE version with all it's features and plugins?

the example code only downloads the core and my best approach so far is to try adding IUs manually until I can get the same set of plugins and features.

Here's how it works, for all the downloads on the eclipse home page.

• To find the version, go to http://download.eclipse.org/technology/epp/packages/<RELEASE>/features/?d
  • There, you'll find the feature and version, e.g. org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.feature_4.6.3.20170314-1500.jar

Any idea why this happens?

Wow! That is surprising. A tiny bit is explained by platform-specific code (the installer only needs on platform, the snippet will mirror artifacts needed for all platforms), but that doesn't explain all of it. If you diff the p2 runnable folder against the download, that will help see where it's coming from.

I think the diff had the wrong roots - p2runnable/eclipse-deps compared to jee install - that way the plugins and features folders will line up.

Interesting. I haven't seen this before, but I don't have time to dig very deep.

This gradle task is implemented entirely by a standard eclipse ant p2.mirror task:

If you can figure out how the ant file should look like, it would be easy to fix the code:

i think it could be worth trying to set the following slicingOptions:
latestVersionOnly=true
includeOptional=false

Option one will eliminate your duplicate version problem and if you do not need the optional packages it would reduce the amount, too.
