Hi, @wgtmac . Thank you for making a progress.

According to your Spark integration PR, wgtmac/spark#1, it seems that you are not aware of the relationship of the release cycles between Apache Spark and Apache ORC yet. We intentionally have been keeping that Apache ORC releases are aligned with Apache Spark releases.

• Apache ORC 1.6.x <-> Apache Spark 3.2.x
• Apache ORC 1.7.x <-> Apache Spark 3.3.x
• Apache ORC 1.8.x <-> Apache Spark 3.4.x
• Apache Spark 1.9.x <-> Apache Spark 3.5.x (TBD)

Please refer the previous @williamhyun 's Apache ORC 1.7.8 Release Issue. He used Apache Spark branch-3.3 for his integration tests.

Thank you for the reply. I think it is fine to skip the docker tests as this is really a minor release which does not change much from the previous release.

I have finished all other tasks except creating the next milestone. My question is whether we have the plan to release 1.7.10? And if yes, what about the due date?

For the record, it is one of pre-tasks which release manager must do before cutting a RC tag.

I think it is fine to skip the docker tests as this is really a minor release which does not change much from the previous
release.

Since it was the first release of yours, I understand it was missed mistakenly, but I'd cast -1 if the future release manager make a RC without testing it.

According to the speed and content of commits in branch-1.7, I don't expect much this year. Given that, could you create a milestone for 1.7.10 on November (6 month later)?

My question is whether we have the plan to release 1.7.10? And if yes, what about the due date?

FYI, Apache Spark 3.3 will reach EOL around December. So, it's also aligned with Apache Spark community too.
