Task 008: Integration Testing & Documentation
Overview
Complete comprehensive end-to-end testing of the entire AI extension system and update all documentation. This final task ensures system reliability, performance, and maintainability through thorough testing and complete documentation updates.
Objectives
- Implement comprehensive end-to-end testing with mock AI plugin
- Update API documentation including OpenAPI specifications
- Conduct performance testing to ensure <5% system overhead
- Create complete integration test suite
- Finalize project documentation and deployment guides
Technical Requirements
End-to-End Testing
- Create comprehensive test suite covering full AI workflow:
- Plugin discovery and registration
- AI request processing and response handling
- Error scenarios and recovery mechanisms
- Frontend interaction and status updates
- Implement mock AI plugin for consistent testing
- Add integration tests for all API endpoints
- Test plugin lifecycle management (start, stop, health checks)
- Validate error propagation and user feedback
Mock AI Plugin Development
- Create realistic mock AI plugin for testing purposes
- Implement configurable response scenarios (success, failure, timeout)
- Add performance simulation capabilities
- Support different plugin states for testing status indicators
- Enable controlled error injection for testing error handling
Performance Testing
- Establish performance benchmarks for AI functionality
- Measure system overhead with AI features enabled
- Ensure <5% performance impact on existing system operations

This task depends on all previous tasks:

Conflicts
This is the final integration task and cannot run in parallel with other tasks. It requires:
- All previous tasks to be completed
- Stable system for comprehensive testing
- Final API contracts and interfaces
