Why was it bumped from 6.111.0 to 7.112.0?

Hi,

Why was it bumped from 6.111.0 to 7.112.0?

Is there something we need to be aware, for this odd major version bump? It does not follow semver (bumping the major should reset the minor to 0), so it's confusing.

Note that #631 mentions a major bump, but does not mention why it's not 7.0.0. So, the question about the reasoning and about whether it was supposed to follow semver still stands.

Hey! Great question.
Lambda layers don't support semantic versions, they're incrementally versioned. Since the primary distribution mechanism for this library is a lambda layer, the minor version is used to denote the lambda layer version.

Hence 6.111 (layer version 111) to 7.112 (layer version 112).
We talk about this in the docs:

The major change in this library is due to the change of patch-all, which may affect some users installing this library from pypi and instrumenting their code manually (not using a lambda layer).
