As a new user (I'm not the only one) I was a bit lost on what syntax I should be using, and that Python itself heavily documents this.

I've updated the documentation to bring this towards the top under its own heading, and linked to the specific user facing Python documentation.

Re-order and clarify that the syntax format of pytest is the exact same as python's -W syntax

@nicoddemus Do you agree that it makes sense to backport this, assuming that we will continue serving doc..... okay, you added the label while I was typing this. so yes I guess 😆
