DCC Dropdown doesn't open when child of Tab that is initially hidden

We have created a layout with two tabs. When we put a dcc.Dropdown element on the tab that is initially hidden, the dropdown will not open.

This issue is present in both Chrome and Firefox on Windows and Linux.

There is an error in the browser console, when I first 'open' the hidden tab:

How can I view a non-minified version of this error?

With the latest version of dash and dash-core-component, set debug=True and app.scripts.config.serve_locally=True to get the non minified version.

I suspect this has to do with plotly/dash-renderer#101 where a key is never passed to rendered components - not an issue when you have a static page, but in the case of Tabs, React has to reload components and tries to optimize this if there's no key set. I could be wrong of course.
