I’m new to NetBox and working on documenting DC power infrastructure for multiple sites. Specifically, I need to represent rectifiers (with details like controller type, firmware version, and management IP) and battery banks (chemistry, capacity, strings, etc.).
I’ve seen different approaches—some people use Devices for rectifiers and batteries, others use Inventory Items, and some rely on Power Panels/Feeds for DC distribution.
Could you share best practices or recommended patterns for:
Modeling rectifiers and their attributes
Representing battery banks (as Devices vs Inventory Items)
Linking them to DC power panels and feeds
Any tips for naming conventions or custom fields
If you have examples, templates, or links to documentation, that would be very helpful.

Hello NetBox community,

Thank you!
