Q: Is it possible to decorate http span descriptions (or add more data)?

Graphql calls post request looks all the same in the span tracing:

I'm looking for a way to get something like:
description: /graphql ${my operation name} .

I saw it is possible in breadcrumbs via beforeBreadcrumb hook

I tried to use the breakcrumb hook, but no luck. A custom data field or even modifying the URL does not change the span description or metadata.

  if (breadcrumb.category === 'fetch' && hint) {
    breadcrumb.data = breadcrumb.data || {}
    breadcrumb.data.url = `${breadcrumb.data.url}?operationName=${JSON.parse(hint.input[1].body).operationName}`
  }

  return breadcrumb

I think it may be possible with a custom instrumentation: https://docs.sentry.io/platforms/javascript/performance/instrumentation/custom-instrumentation/

It's not possible to modify spans that are coming from automatic instrumentation. As @ertrzyiks mentioned, you'll need to add your own spans for that.

I care about this! The http.client spans from automatic instrumentation aren't much help when using GraphQL because the request URL is always /graph :(

Would love a way to add middleware to modify these span descriptions!
