Getting started
ForgeEssentials requires Java 8 or newer versions of Java. It is suggested to uninstall all old versions of JRE, install the newest JRE, then restart your computer before installing ForgeEssentials.
Forge Version
- To be able to run the current ForgeEssentials mod for Minecraft 1.7.10, Forge version 10.13.4.1558+ is required.
- To be able to run the current ForgeEssentials mod for Minecraft 1.8.x, Forge version ??.??.?.???? is required.
- To be able to run the current ForgeEssentials mod for Minecraft 1.10.2, Forge version ??.??.?.???? is required.
- To be able to run the current ForgeEssentials mod for Minecraft 1.12.2, Forge version 14.23.5.2855 is required.
- To be able to run the current ForgeEssentials mod for Minecraft 1.16.5, Forge version 36.2.34+ is required.
ForgeEssentials is a server-only mod. This means you only need to add it to your server and there is no need to have it present on the clients that connect to your server. To install the server mod, simply drop the JAR file into your mods folder. We highly recommend always using the latest version of FE from ForgeEssentials CI. Backup your world before using FE since the FE team is not responsible for your loss when using FE.
If your server crashes after adding FE, please make sure you use the latest version first. If it still crashes, head over to the troubleshooting guide. If none of these helps, feel free to open an issue on Github or ask for help on IRC.
The ForgeEssentials client mod is an optional mod that can be added to the client to provide additional features. This is especially useful for server admins, because one of these features allows you to see selections in the world. See the ForgeEssentials client mod page for more information.
WorldEdit (Available here)
ForgeEssentials comes with WorldEdit comparability. WorldEdit is a powerful and flexible world-editing toolkit, and provides selection services for FE if installed. FE also regulates permissions for WorldEdit commands.

YOU NEED TO RUN YOUR SERVER ONCE AND HAVE A WORLD GENERATED TO CONFIGURE USING FILES. Locate your Config files:
- 1.17.10-1.12.2 -Main config file is found at /yourServerFolder/ForgeEssentials/main.cfg
- 1.16.5+ -Main config file is found at /yourServerFolder/ForgeEssentials/main.toml and Modules config is found at /yourServerFolder/ForgeEssentials/Modules.cfg
- Within this folder, you may find settings for every module separated into the appropriate toml/cfg files.
