@zygoballus , have you tried putting a comma between your lat and longs? I think that might be what is tripping the automatic parser up. |

@themerekat - I tried it with commas as well, e.g. "15º52'S, 28º20'E", but it still doesn't work. |

According to the documentation on batch importing, "Upon upload, background scripts will attempt to extract lat/long coordinate values from the verbatimCoordinates field" and "If you have lat/long in a single field, you can map this field to verbatimCoordinates, and decimal latitude and longitude fields will be automatically parsed." However, when I recently did a batch import of about 250 records which had coordinates in the verbatimcoordinates field, none of them got parsed. The field included coordinates in the formats "30º23'53"N 85º53'12"W" or "31.17326N 83.53613W". If I click the coordinate parsing button on any single record, it successfully parses the coordinates and populates the latitude and longitude fields, so it works when done manually, but for some reason it didn't work during the batch import.
Steps to reproduce: From the Administration Control Panel, click on "Import/Update Specimen Records", click "Full Text File Import", upload a file to analyze, map your coordinates field to verbatimCoordinates, complete the import.
Expected result: The latitude and longitude fields should be filled in automatically based on parsing the verbatimCoordinates.
Actual results: All the latitude and longitude fields are empty and the verbatimCoordinates have to be parsed manually one at a time.
