Can copilot suggest mid-line completion than only end-of-line appending?

Cursor can suggest modifications to an entire line, rather than only appending text at the end. Does GitHub Copilot and the copilot.lua support this kind of mid-line completion?

in my experience NES is a different use case and it works well when the suggested text is a complete replacement of something else and not a completion of what I'm typing. I felt like this is true for both copilot.lua NES provider and sidekick.nvim NES provider and NES in vscode.

As for inline completions, ggml-org/llama.vim does a great job at this - its suggestions can be in the middle of the line too. However, I'm not sure if this is applicable for github copilot clients because maybe copilot's API is only designed for EOL completions? I notice VSCode copilot doesn't do a good job either. Curious what's the limitation here.
