Install ddcutil in flatpak

Bug Description

No brightness controls in my setup.

I've tried connecting the same monitor via USB-C connection and HDMI connection but not getting the brightness controls in the applet. In both cases, it's a direct cable connection with no active or passive docks/adapters involved.

Expected Result

If not a limitation of the monitor/connection protocols itself, the applet should let the user control the brightness

Might be that the monitor doesn't support DDC/CI, even over USB-C

Also, something like #29 may be used to notify the user of unsupported monitor.

Same here. I'm using an LG 34" UltraWide over DisplayPort that definitely supports DDC/CI. It works under KDE by default. I can control the brightness using an app such as DDC Control.

Host Machine: Framework Laptop 13 (AMD 7040)

I have the same problem. First, I installed the ddcutil package:
sudo apt install ddcutil
Then, I typed and confirmed the following command:
sudo usermod <user-name> -aG i2c
After restarting the system, it was fixed.

it should work by default. I wonder if installing this package in flatpak will work

I had to reinstall (remove and install via apt ) ddcutil to have the brightness controls show up for my USB-C Arzopa Z1RC.
Around the same time, I had installed a firmware update for the host machine (System76 Lemp11). Not sure which one did the trick but I'll still go ahead and close the issue. Just that a warning message alerting the user of an unsupported/messed-up setup would still be nice to have.
