Juergen Hoeller opened SPR-16219 and commented

Following the deprecation (and subsequent removal) of XMLBeans support back in 4.2, let's also deprecate Castor support. While Castor isn't officially retired yet, there is very low activity in recent years: only one release in the past four years (!), and that one is 1.5 years old already.

We'll keep Castor support around for the time being but won't be actively maintaining it anymore. As of 5.1 or 5.2, we're going to remove CastorMarshaller and co completely.
