Hey Laravel Team (and especially Taylor!),
First off, massive thanks to Taylor Otwell for creating and continuing to lead Laravel—it’s not just a framework, it’s a movement. Laravel has completely changed the game for PHP developers, and you’ve built one of the most elegant, enjoyable developer experiences out there. The attention to detail, developer-first philosophy, and overall polish in the Laravel ecosystem are second to none. Hats off.
That said, I’d like to propose something bold—a next-level idea that I think could shape the future of Laravel and backend development in general: Let’s rewrite Laravel in Go. Fully. No PHP.
Now, I know that’s a big ask, but hear me out.
Go has been gaining serious momentum in the backend world, and for good reason. It’s fast, modern, statically typed, easy to deploy, and built for concurrency from the ground up. Go binaries are self-contained, spin up in milliseconds, and are perfect for the cloud-native era. It just fits.
Imagine Laravel’s expressive syntax, incredible DX, and architectural brilliance—but supercharged with Go’s performance and scalability. Laravel’s philosophy and patterns could shine even brighter on top of a modern language like Go. We’re not talking about a wrapper or a port—we’re talking about a full, first-class Laravel experience in Go, built with the same heart and vision that’s made Laravel what it is today.
Taylor, you’ve already done the impossible once by making PHP feel modern and elegant. If anyone could pull this off—and rally a community around it—it’s you.
…
But let’s be real—this is a joke. 😄
Laravel in Go would be wild, but I just wanted to have a little fun and drop a bit of chaos into the GitHub issues. I have nothing but love and respect for the work you all do. Just wanted to send my best and say thanks for everything Laravel has done for the developer community.
Keep being awesome. 🚀
Cheers,
Frederik
