Starting a thread moves message out of timeline #19016

Steps to reproduce
I've enabled the beta threads functionality. When I click on the "thread" button on any message in a room's timeline, the message is moved to the side-pane and disappears from the timeline. If I close the side-pane, or open another thread, the message is no longer to be found anywhere. If I click on the message's time in the side-pane, it briefly shows up in the timeline, but if I scroll there, it disappears right away.

Certainly, the original message should stay in the timeline, such that I can later revisit the thread

As shown in the video, popping a message into the side-pane pretty much makes it permanently inaccessible.
