This PR consists of several updates related to the build scripts and dependencies - best reviewed commit by commit.
The Android build components (Gradle wrapper/build tools/Android Gradle plugin) were updated to the latest versions (as of March 25, 2017). As part of this change, the release build tasks were moved to a separate file (release.gradle, similar to many other projects). This also adds additional tasks for building a javadoc and sources jar. The previously missing
gradlewscripts were added as well.Please NO GitHub rebase/squash merges. If you'd like me to combine some or all of the commits, please let me know, and I will update my branch. Thank you.
